Los Angeles based multimedia artist Andrea Bowers’s work explores the intersection between activism and art. Her main focus is the necessity of nonviolent protest and civil disobedience in the lives of women. Andrea’s recent work investigates climate justice, women’s healthcare rights, immigration and workers’ rights through a feminist lens. She believes cultural production can be an integral part of political action and help serve as a voice in counter-hegemonic practices. Andrea has been a professor in the Otis Graduate Public Practice program for 4 years. She is currently a board member at LAXart and has served as a member of the Hammer Museum’s Artists Council and was on the LACE Board of Directors.
